Workshop: "Scenarios for Crisis Management and Safety During University Events and Activities" by the Crisis Management, Disaster, and Occupational Health and Safety Unit – Monday, 16 December 2024
As part of the ongoing activities of the President of the Republic's human development initiative, "A New Beginning for Building the Individual", at the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels, and under the auspices of:
Prof. Sherif Youssef Khater, President of Mansoura University,
Prof. Mohamed Abdel-Azim, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development,
and led by Prof. Mohamed Ahmed Abdel-Latif, Dean of the Faculty,
with the supervision of Prof. Doaa Samir Hizah, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development,
and organised by Assistant Lecturer Basma Mohamed Shaheen, Director of the Crisis Management, Disaster, and Occupational Health and Safety Unit, and coordinated by Engineer Toka Adel El-Habashy, a team member of the unit.
The Crisis Management, Disaster, and Occupational Health and Safety Unit held a workshop titled "Scenarios for Crisis Management and Safety During University Events and Activities" on Monday, 16 December 2024, as part of the unit's plan for the 2024/2025 academic year.
The workshop opened with a speech by Prof. Doaa Samir Hizah, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, during which she outlined:
The stages of crisis management.
Crisis management within the initiative.
Reactive crisis management and effective crisis handling.
She also highlighted the importance of detecting early warning signals to prevent crises, emphasising the critical role of speed and accuracy in decision-making during crises, as well as the significance of the crisis management team's role.
Dr. Mohamed Reyad El-Bayoumi, Director of the Crisis and Disaster Management Department at Mansoura University and Coordinator of the Central Crisis Committee, delivered the workshop lecture. He discussed:
The definition of crisis management.
Scenarios for crisis management.
Foundations for effective and safe organisation of university events and major activities.
Traditional and non-traditional methods for crisis management.
The scientific approach to crisis management during major events.
The workshop concluded with an open Q&A session, addressing attendees' questions and concerns.
