The Faculty of Agriculture Holds Its Annual Scientific Conference for the Academic Year 2023/2024
On Sunday, February 9, 2025, the Faculty of Agriculture held its annual scientific conference titled "Achievements - Challenges - Future Vision - Proposals" for the academic year 2023/2024, under the presidency of Prof. Dr. Mohamed Ali Mohamed Shata, the Dean of the Faculty. The conference aimed to discuss the achievements of the past year, future plans, challenges facing the educational process, and ways to address those challenges.
The event was attended by Prof. Dr. Saleh El-Sayed Saada, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs; Prof. Dr. Metwally Mohamed Abu Sreea, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development; Prof. Dr. Walid Omar Nassar, Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Research; Prof. Dr. Hiba Ibrahim Abdel Salam, Director of the Quality Assurance Unit; the heads of academic departments; a number of faculty members and their assistants; staff members; and undergraduate and postgraduate students. The event was presented by Associate Professor Dr. Amr Ahmed Gaber, Director of the Innovation and Scientific Research Support Office.
The conference started with the national anthem and a recitation from the Quran, followed by a video showcasing the activities and events held at the faculty during the academic year 2023/2024.
Dr. Mohamed Shata welcomed the attendees and thanked the faculty members for their outstanding efforts over the past year, which significantly contributed to enhancing the academic and administrative performance within the faculty.
He also extended his gratitude to the members of the "Animal, Poultry, and Fish Production" program and the "Agricultural Economic and Social Sciences" program for obtaining programmatic accreditation from the National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Education on October 23, 2024. This makes the Faculty of Agriculture at Mansoura the first agricultural faculty in Egyptian universities to have 100% of its general educational programs accredited.
Dr. Shata highlighted the faculty's infrastructure achievements over the past three years, including new constructions, equipment installations, and maintenance. He also noted that the first phase of constructing the extension of the new Faculty of Agriculture building is nearing completion, and the fourth and fifth floors of Building (W) have been fully equipped. He discussed the financial resources of the faculty, particularly the self-generated income, and its development over the last three years.
Dr. Metwally Abu Sreea spoke about the activities of the Community Service and Environmental Development sector during the past year and presented achievement statistics for various units of the sector, as well as the sector's contributions to university initiatives and activities.
Dr. Saleh Saada, in his remarks about the education and student affairs sector, noted a significant increase in student enrollment in the faculty over the past three years. He also pointed out that the percentage of students enrolled in specialized programs has risen to 46% of first-year students.
Dr. Hiba Abdel Salam discussed the activities of the Quality Assurance Unit, particularly the updating of the faculty's vision, mission, and objectives, and the preparation of a new strategic plan. She also mentioned the updating of manuals and procedures and the preparations for the visit of the review team from the National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Education as the faculty seeks institutional accreditation. Additionally, she talked about the faculty's efforts to accredit its specialized programs.
At the conclusion of the conference, Prof. Dr. Hiba Abdel Salam, Director of the Quality Assurance Unit, and Dr. Marwa Ramadan, Deputy Director of the Quality Assurance Unit, were honored, along with the new heads of academic departments, members of the "Animal, Poultry, and Fish Production" program and the "Agricultural Economic and Social Sciences" program, faculty members and their assistants who obtained academic degrees in the past year, newly appointed teaching assistants, and top students in all programs.
