Activities of celebrations of the 11th Science Day at Mansoura University
On Tuesday, July 2, 2019, Mansoura University honored scientists, researchers of the State Merit and Encouragement Awards during the celebration of the 11th Science Day which was held at the Conference Hall of the Administration of the University under the patronage of Dr. Khalid Abdul Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
In the presence of Prof. Kamal Jad Sharoubim, Governor of Dakahlia, Prof. Ashraf Abdel Baset, President of Mansoura University, Prof. Ashraf Swailam, Vice President for Post-graduate Studies and Research, Prof. Mohamed Attia El Bayoumi, Vice President for Education and Students Affairs , Prof. Ahmed Bayoumi Shahabuddin former University President, Prof. Farha El-Shennawy Director of the Mansoura University Center for Immunology Stem Cells and former Vice-President of the University for Post-graduate Studies and Research, Prof. Helali El Sherbini Former Minister of Education and Technical Education and Vice-Chancellor and former Minister of Education and Students Affairs, Prof. Magda Nasr, Member of the House of Representatives and former Vice-President of the for Post-graduate Studies and Research, Prof. Raymonda Assaf, former Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Mohammed Sweilem Al Bassiouni, Former Vice President for Education and Students, the deans of the faculties of the university and its agents and a number of faculty members and their assistants and Mr. Osama Musa, Secretary of the University and the assistant secretaries of the university.
During the ceremony, the members of the faculty of the university were honored with the State Merit Award, scientific excellence and encouragement, and the personality of the year represented in the Mansurasuras research team at the Mansoura University Center for Vertebral Excavations, the faculty members who won the University's awards, encouragement, scientific creativity and scientific excellence. The researchers who have best dissertation of the Masters and PhD degrees, the faculty members who have published research in the nature publisher and who have the highest rate of citation, the highest number of published research and patent holders Sector and obtaining a doctorate of science (dsc) and the best research for young researcher under the age of forty and the best research in the field of social sciences were also honored.
Prof. Hisham Salam, Director of the Mansoura University Center for Vertebrate Excavations, expressed his pleasure in choosing his the team as the personality of the year, pointing out that this discovery was the result of a collective work by an Egyptian research team for the first time to discover a dinosaur that lived in Egypt 75 million years ago.
Salam added that the idea of establishing the Mansoura University Center for vertebrate fossils has been pursued since his return from an external mission in 2010. Despite the weakness of the possibilities, everyone joined together until a team of vertebrate fossils worked for several days in the deserts of Egypt to reach discoveries that contribute to elevating the university's ranks and serving the community. The team has started his work since 2014 to undertake research trips to the desert to explore dinosaurs lived in Egypt 75 million years ago as the first dinosaur discovered in Africa in modern times, where the members of this team represented the university in the conferences of vertebrate fossils abroad and were welcomed to attend there.
